Range Safety Upgrade: New Safety Lights

Safety Lights replace Safety Flags

  • The procedure for making the Firing Line “COLD” is the same; use the lights as you did the flags.
  • Yellow Lights have been installed in the center of each firing line and on the flag post
  • Two switches are positioned on each line
  • The same switch must be used to turn the lights OFF that were used to turn them ON
  • The flags will remain as a back-up in the event of a power loss
  • Lights OFF and flags DOWN when you leave the range.

Pistol Target

We now have a functioning pistol target that can be set an reset from behind the line. It uses a pulley system to send out the target. Great work from some of our members to make this inexpensive solution. See video below.

New Steel Challenge Course This Weekend!

Steel-Challenge-Roundabout-ConcelaedCarry-Stage-Match-2

The new berms are up and the new course is in the ground. We will now have a full regulation Steel Challenge course of fire. It will have 8 bays all set at regulation distances. That means 8 bays to shoot instead of 5, so make sure you bring enough ammunition for the extra rounds. That also means shooting in 3 different courses than we have shot in the past. So some things will be new.

We are excited to have the new, full regulation course with all brand new targets. Come out and shoot March 12, 2016!

January 2016 Matches

Due to a change in schedule, January matches are now ON. Improvements to the range will now take place in February. Check with your Match Director to see if your February match is being held.

Member Orientation for New Firing Line

Dear Member,

Just a reminder:  The range will be closed and the gate combination will be changed on September 2. This combination will be given only to those members who are working at the range. Shooting will not be allowed until construction projects are completed. This includes normally scheduled events such as competitions.

Due to the changes in the range design and procedures, each member will be required to complete an Orientation before he/she can use the new facility.  The Orientation Schedule is listed below.  The schedule has been divided up alphabetically according to your last name.

MEMBER’S LAST NAME BEGINS WITH: SCHEDULED DAY AND TIME:
A through B Saturday, September 13 at 9:00 AM
C through F Saturday, September 13 at 12 Noon
G through J Saturday, September 13 at 3:00 PM
K through N Saturday, September 13 at 6:00 PM
O through S Sunday, September 14 at 10:00 AM
T through Z Sunday, September 14 at 3:00 PM

We ask that you make every effort to attend your scheduled Orientation – remember we have over 400 members who need to go through the Orientation process before we can re-open the range.  Please do not come for Orientation at a time other than the one for which you are scheduled unless you have made prior arrangements – there is a limit to the number of people we can accommodate in each group.

We realize that there will be some scheduling conflicts (people who work shift-work or weekends, etc.).  If you have such a conflict, please contact me at 912-778-4577 between 10 AM and 7 PM, or email me at beeranch@btconline.net and I will work with you to re-schedule.  We have a limited number of alternative dates and times available. If the alternative dates/times don’t work for you, you will be asked to make arrangements to attend one of the normal new-member orientations on a workday (beginning with the October workday).

Once you complete the Orientation process, a temporary ID card will be issued. You will be allowed access to the range using the temporary gate combination (on the back of this card) once all the necessary projects have been completed and the range is re-opened.  This combination will remain in effect through the dues-renewal period. Members who have not completed the Orientation procedure will not receive their final ID card with the permanent gate combination, even if they have renewed their dues.

Sincerely,

Barbara Senbertrand
Treasurer

Paint Project Completed

Pete Harper and team painted the frames for the new firing line and both connex containers.   We would also like to give a special “Thank You!” to Sherwin Williams Paints on Community Road for donating  60 gallons of paint, and NES Equipment Rentals on 341 for the donation of equipment needed  to complete the paint process over several days.

Paint Overspray Continued

Please be advised that due to weather conditions the painting project was not completed Tuesday as planned.  I have been asked to advise everybody that the overspray cautions are being extended until Friday the 7th.  The range is still open, just please use caution pertaining to wind direction and safety.

Paint Over-Spray Warning

On Monday and Tuesday (3rd and 4th) a team will be spray-painting the steel frame-work on the new firing line.   There will be a HIGH amount of over-spray risk to your vehicles and firearms.

Recommend members avoid the range on these days.

The club nor the volunteers doing the work can be responsible for over-spray damage to your, your vehicle or equipment.

Watch this page for “Rain dates’ or changes.
